We are seeking an experienced Operation Safety Leader to oversee and ensure safe operations within a major upstream project. The position is based on-site in Suriname and requires strong leadership, proven field experience, and a rigorous approach to operational safety performance.


The selected professional will contribute to the project’s full lifecycle, supporting drilling and production teams, ensuring compliance with international safety standards, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement. The role requires close coordination with multidisciplinary teams and the ability to respond effectively to operational challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coordinate, and monitor safety operations during project activities, ensuring full compliance with safety procedures and international standards.
  • Perform regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented. 
  • Guide field teams in safe work practices and ensure continuous reinforcement of safety culture. 
  • Produce clear operational safety reports, incident analyses, and improvement recommendations. 
  • Support all operational phases to guarantee safe execution across drilling and related project activities. 

Must Have

  • Strong background in operational safety within drilling, upstream, or industrial environments. 
  • Proven experience in leading HSE or safety operations on major international projects. 
  • Excellent command of safety management systems and risk assessment methodologies.
  • Ability to work in high-demand, multicultural environments with strict execution discipline. 
  • Strong reporting, communication, and organizational skills. 

Nice to have

  • Previous experience in Suriname or similar frontier environments.
  • Knowledge of regional regulatory frameworks and safety compliance requirements. 
  • Multilingual communication capabilities. 
  • Experience supporting resident assignments over long project lifecycles and familiarity with complex EPC, drilling, or well-delivery project structures.
